The Announcement and Call for Papers

OBJECTIVES
The International Young Researchers’ Conference on Environmental Change will be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia July, 24-25 2010 (date is subject to change and however will be notified within the first half of May). The keynote papers will be present on 24 July 2010. The Conference will be sponsored and organized by Mongolian Young Geoscientists’ Association and Institute of Geography, Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
The theme is “Extending our knowledge on environmental change for the 21st century”. The conference will bring together recent research and conceptual developments from these scientific approaches to discuss current challenges, research tasks, practical solutions and possible strategies for long-term policies. In particular, we invite papers that deal with one or more of the following topics:

TOPICS

The expected topics to be included but not limited:
1) Environmental change (source info);
2) Climatic and ecological conditions and changes;
3) Modeling and prediction;
4) Measurements and analysis;
5) Socio-economic aspect of environmental changes;
6) Environmental impact assessments

The submitted abstracts will be published as a volume of proceeding before the conference and will be distributed at the conference. Publication Committee will be formed by the members of Organizing Committee, and they may ask for the revision to the authors. No check on the content of abstract/paper will be made.

Ulan Bator (locally called UB) is located at about 1350 meters (4430 feet) above sea level, slightly east of the center of Mongolia the bank of the Tuul River, a sub-tributary of the Selenge River, in a valley at the foot of the mountain Bogd Khan Uul.
Due to its high elevation, relatively high elevation, and location hundreds of kilometers away from any coast, Ulan Bator is the coldest national capital in the world, with a monsoon-influenced subarctic climate (Koppen climate classification Dwc) with brief, warm summers and long, very cold and dry winters. It has an average annual temperature of -1.3°C (29.7°F).

Itinerary
The 2nd day of the Conference, Afternoon. Ulaanbaatar
/LD/
After lunch, visit Gandan monastery
and Natural History Museum.

Then will go to Zaisan Hill which is one of the monuments
honoring Soviet accomplishments in days
gone by. It's still a popular site for visitors
because of the good view over whole UB city.

After that visit Torgo fashion show and enjoy Mongolian traditional
Cloths show. Also visit “Gobi” Cashmere Shop.




EXCURSION

Excursion to Gorkhi Terelj National Park: Located 80 kilometers north east of UB, Gorkhi Terelj National Park is one of Mongolia’s most popular destinations. Terelj is in Khentii mountain range and borders the Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area and famous for its beautiful natural scenery and interesting rock formations. The Turtle Rock created by nature, and the man-made dinosaur statues are the key attractions. Added to these there is the newly constructed statue of Chinggis Khan on horseback, which will take you to the memories of Great Emperor back to the 13th century.

Visitors can take leisurely strolls on green meadows carpeted with edelweiss and a dazzling variety of other wildflowers; view fascinating rock formations against a backdrop of pine covered mountains; and wander along the wooded banks of a mountain stream.

Accommodations of the field excursion
You will stay in traditional nomadic people’s house called “Ger” in Mongolian in tourist camp during the field excursion. Three or four participants will stay at in one “Ger.” Restaurant and bathroom are also equipped in the tourist camp.
